Movit Foundation Brings Hope to Lyakabirizi Core Primary School with New Classroom Blocks

In a heartwarming development, pupils at Lyakabirizi Core Primary School in Lwengo District no longer have to study under tree shades or makeshift shelters. The handover of three newly constructed classroom blocks marks the end of a challenging chapter for over 547 students who previously faced the difficulties of shared learning spaces and disrupted lessons due to extreme weather.

For years, Primary Six and Primary Seven students shared the same classroom block, and many of the younger pupils attended classes in temporary structures. This made it nearly impossible for the school to complete its syllabus during the rainy season, with classes frequently suspended. The situation gained our attention after media coverage highlighted the school’s dire conditions, drawing our empathy to intervene.

On September 21, 2024, Movit Foundation officially handed over three fully furnished classroom blocks, providing much-needed relief to the school’s pupils, parents, and authorities. This gesture is part of the foundation’s commitment to improving access to quality education across Uganda.

As we continue to extend our impact, this first project serves as a stepping stone towards future efforts aimed at uplifting other regions facing similar education challenges. The newly constructed classrooms are equipped with desks, ensuring that the students at Lyakabirizi can now learn in a safe, conducive environment, free from the interruptions they once endured.

By investing in education infrastructure, we are empowering young minds with the tools they need to secure a brighter future. This project stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and our dedication to fostering meaningful change in communities across Uganda.
